Council Staff Representative Davis Appointed to NJ State Health Benefits Commission

In October, the New Jersey State AFL-CIO appointed Council Staff Representative Debra Davis to serve as the Representative for State Government Employee on the State Health Benefits Commission.

As a Commissioner, Davis’s role will be to consider members’ health benefits appeals, rate renewal applications, review RFPs and provider participation issues, as well as any emergent issues related to your members’ benefits.  Before working at the Council, Debra had a career in health care. She put that background to good use when the Council assigned her to attend State Health Benefits Commission meetings beginning in 2003 and over time, she’s become the Council’s health benefits specialist.

Council Executive Director Steve Young commented that, “All NJ state workers will be well represented with Debra Davis on the Commission.”

She was sworn in as a Commissioner on November 12, 2014. The term is open-ended.
